What is Champions’ Weekend?

Champions' Weekend is a patient advocate retreat designed to equip individuals with essential advocacy skills while building a strong, supportive community. This “train the trainer” style program brings together patients from across the country and from a wide range of disease backgrounds—many of whom share common experiences around diagnosis and accessing care.
In this collaborative environment, Champions will:
  • Build lasting connections with fellow patient advocates
  • Learn how to navigate policy conversations
  • Practice sharing their stories effectively
  • Gain tools to help educate and support their own communities

What happens at Champions’ Weekend?

Our weekend is divided into 4 main pillars:
  1. Advancing Health Equity - Champions Weekend begins with a powerful purpose: to invest in the leadership potential of patients whose lived experiences drive a more just and accessible healthcare system. This pillar reflects the foundation of the weekend — that change starts with those most impacted.
  2. Advocacy - Our Advocacy team empowers patients to navigate the complexities of government and drive change by sharing their personal stories. We focus on policies directly impacting access to provider-administered therapies (infusions/injections), offering actionable strategies for patients to advocate effectively within their communities.
  3. Storytelling - Storytelling is crucial for advocacy and our weekend event! We'll guide you on effectively sharing your history and experiences to educate and motivate others, giving a voice to the patient journey. As part of the weekend, each Champion’s story will be professionally filmed and edited into a powerful personal video. These stories are central to our advocacy efforts—putting real faces to the issues we fight for and inspiring a growing network of advocates. See some of our past Champions’ Stories here: (Patient Stories)
  4. Community - We are creating a community of patients from diverse backgrounds, various conditions, and all walks of life. Our weekends are limited to 10 participants, offering you the unique opportunity to connect deeply with others experiencing similar journeys. This experience helps build a lasting cohort of Infusion Access Foundation leaders who stand together for treatment access and equity.

Who will be considered for Champions’ Weekend?

We are seeking passionate patients from all backgrounds, condition areas, and regions within the United States who have experience with provider-administered therapies (infusions/injections). If you are interested in learning about legislative advocacy and sharing your patient experience, we encourage you to apply!

How Champions Are Selected

Selecting just 10 participants from a pool of incredible applications is always the toughest part of the weekend. To ensure fairness and identify the best candidates, we've put together a team to read and review applications thoroughly and to help us determine which stories may best fit for this year's event. If you've applied previously and weren't selected, please don't hesitate to reapply! Our advocacy goals and patient focus evolve annually, so the ideal candidate profile changes each year.

How many champions can come?

This year’s cohort will have 10 total participants.

How much does it cost to attend?

Your transportation, flight, hotel and most meals are on us! Champions’ Weekend is made possible by the Infusion Access Foundation and our amazing sponsors.

What happens after the weekend?

The excitement continues long after Sunday! As an Infusion Access Champion, we value your ongoing experience and insights and will be in touch. You'll also gain access to our exclusive Champions' Slack channel, an online community where you can stay connected with your cohort, brainstorm with past classes of Champions, and continue to collaborate on solutions. We also encourage our Champions to participate in future Hill Days, where you can apply your knowledge, and we may even invite you to speak at industry events and conferences.
